PROJECT

29MW Solar Farm Trenching & Cable Installation

HWBC delivered the full trenching and cable installation package for a 29MW solar farm development in Oxfordshire.

Our scope included excavation of MV, LV and communications trenches, installation of high-voltage and low-voltage cabling, fibre optic infrastructure, CCTV networks and associated service crossings. Working alongside the principal contractor, our team provided a complete groundworks and cable infrastructure solution to support the successful delivery of the renewable energy project.

INFRASTRUCTURE

The Project

As part of the construction of a 29MW solar farm in Ducklington, Oxfordshire, extensive underground infrastructure was required to connect the solar arrays, substations and site-wide monitoring systems.

HWBC was appointed to undertake the trench excavation and cable installation works across the development. Working alongside the principal contractor, our team delivered the installation of medium-voltage, low-voltage and communications networks, ensuring all infrastructure was installed safely, efficiently and in accordance with project specifications.

Through careful planning and coordination, the works were completed in line with programme requirements while maintaining high standards of quality, safety and environmental compliance.

Outcome

The trenching and cable installation programme was successfully completed, providing the critical power distribution and communications infrastructure required for the operation of the solar farm.

The project demonstrated HWBC’s ability to deliver large-scale renewable energy infrastructure works, combining specialist trenching operations with the installation of HV, LV and communications networks across a complex site environment.

By providing both the excavation and installation elements of the project, HWBC delivered an efficient, coordinated solution that supported the successful energisation and long-term operation of the solar farm.
