Unearthing History

The Archaeological Dig at the New Solar Farm

We are excited to announce the successful completion of an archaeological dig, commissioned by GFP, at the proposed solar farm site. Over two focused weeks, HWBC Ltd used a Hitachi 135 excavator to dig 65 trenches. A special thanks goes to Oxford Archaeological for their invaluable support. Their expertise guided the excavation and helped preserve the site’s historical significance. While we await final results, initial findings show that only a small area will face impact. For this section, we may opt for a ballasted system instead of piled posts, which will minimize disruption to the archaeological context. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project, where sustainable energy and respect for heritage come together!
